The registered civil engineer for the project, also known as the Engineer of Record (EOR), is responsible for sealing the contract plans. The Technical Owner is responsible for the component details only and not for project modifications or the coordination of the components within the project. The certification packages include the seal of the Technical Owner, who is the engineer in responsible charge for the component. The Technical Owner certifies that the details comply with departmental policies and standards through an internal approval and documentation process.
Plan PreparationĮach Bridge Standard Details sheet has been prepared by a Technical Owner, who is a registered civil engineer in the State of California. The details are considered to be "Project Plans" for contract administration purposes in accordance with Section 5-1.02 "Contract Components", of the Standard Specifications. Bridge standard details are not Standard Plans and are subject to frequent modification. The sheets contain pre-engineered details for a variety of structural systems, such as earth retaining systems, bridge railings and underground structures. Bridge Standard Details (XS) are developed and maintained by the Division of Engineering Services (DES) Technical Organization.
